Purchasing a platform stairlift raises many questions. Many people don't know exaclty which lift is best for them and what's important before and after buying it. In this section we want to answer some of these raising questions to create more understanding for our products and their functionaliy. How much is a platform stairlift
Unfortunately we cannot give an overall answer for this question. The costs depend on several parameters: Is it a straight or a curved stair? Can the platform be mounted on the wall or are stanchions needed? Is a special construction necessary? Do you want a special colour?

Is the platform lift suitable for electic wheelchairs?
Yes! Our platform stairlifts can be adapted to the requirements of electric wheelchair users and can be equiped with a higher payload.

Can the platform lift cope with curved stairs?
Yes, the platform stairlift can be used at straight and curved stairs. Important is the space which is available. In order to find out whether it is possible to install a platform stairlift or not, please get in contact with us.

How long is the delivery time?
The delivery time depends on the type of platform stairlift. It lasts between 8 and 12 weeks and may be reduced to 2 - 6 weeks on request.

How long lasts the installation of the platform stairlift?
The duration of the installation depends on the lenght of the rail and whether the platform is installed on the wall or on stanchions. A benchmark for the duration is about 8 hours.

Which colours are available?
The standard coulour for your Ascendor platform stairlift is silver-metallic, similar to RAL 9006, but you can order your stairlift in any other RAL-colour or in stainless steel too.

Can people who do not need a wheelchair use the platform stairlift too?
Of course that's possible. In many cases, especially in public buildings, it is reasonable to install a platform stairlift with an integrated folding seat. So health-impaired people without wheelchair can use the lift instead of the stair. Due to the integrated folding seat, our platform stairlifts can be transformed into a seated lift.
Sometimes a changing health status makes a stairlift necessary. After talking to a medical specialist you should think of buying a platform stairlift in case you could be dependent on a wheelchair in future.

How is the lift operated?
The lift is operated by a standard electrical socket. It must be situated at the top or at the lower part of the rail. There are 4 maintenance-free and recharchable accumulators integrated which get reloaded when the lift stays in the landing positions.

What happens during a power failure?
In case of a power failure the lift can be operated because of the integrated accumulators. However, a ride on the platform stairlift is possible.

How do I control the lift?
The lift is controled by the control elements on the driving unit or by a wireless handheld transmitter which you can take with you. This form of control is very suitable for private buildings. In public buildings we recommend the installation of wall-mounted operating units in every landing position. The lift can be called into the desired landing position. The operation units can be locked by a key and thus are safe from unauthorised use.

Do you manufacutre a lift for exterieur installation?
Yes, our platform stairlift is available as weatherproof-installation, equipped with a rain cover for the driving unit.

Which drive system do you use?
The platform stairlift is driven by a reliable and maintenance-free rack/spur gear. The lower rail is a toothed rack, the upper rail is absolutely free from grease and drit and can be used as a hand rail.

Does the lift open and close automatically?
Yes, the lift can be closed and opened by pressing the keys on the wireless handheld transmitter or on the wall-mounted operation unit. The folded platform saves space: total depth for the straight platform is 27 cm, for the curved platform it's 31 cm.
